Public Consultation

Land at Wembdon

Development Background

Cavanna Homes welcomed members of the public to an exhibition event held on the 29th September to outline our emerging proposals for a residential development in respect of Centenary Heights Phase 3, Wembdon, Bridgwater.

The adopted Sedgemoor District Council Local Plan (2019) identifies Land at West Bridgwater as a Strategic Development Area for the delivery of circa 1,200 homes, a local centre and primary school. Our site forms the final phase as part of this allocation.

This website captures the information presented at the public consultation event and provides further opportunity for you to give feedback on this phase of the development.

Your feedback is important to us and we would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete the below questions via the feedback link.

Comments will be considered carefully ahead of our Planning Application submission.

Planning Context

The site sits on the edge of Bridgwater, within the parish of Wembdon, and forms part of the allocated land for new homes under the Sedgemoor Local Plan. Bounded by the A39 Quantock Road, Skimmerton Lane and existing homes along Wembdon Hill, the land is included in the wider ‘West Bridgwater’ allocation, which is planned for around 1,200 new homes.

Cavanna Homes, in partnership with Martin Grant Homes, has already secured approval for earlier phases of this allocation, including up to 675 homes, a new primary school and neighbourhood centre. Construction of the first 238 homes and new access points is already underway.

The surrounding land is earmarked for further housing, education and local facilities, helping to create a well-planned extension to Bridgwater with good access via the newly built junction on the A39.
